Day 2

It's Day 2 here in Sydney and I was up just before sunrise, so I took a few photos. The ones shown in this post are taken from our bedroom window, looking east towards downtown Sydney.

I'm tired from a day of walking around and shopping for apartment supplies -- the jet lag has something to do with it too, i'm sure. We covered a lot of ground today -- we walked to Summer Hill, where Crash was staying the first 2 weeks, and found a mattress supply store. The one we liked was $900 (Australian) with a boxspring/base, and as we were leaving i went to say goodbye to the guy who helped us and he said if we came back monday he'd knock $100 off the proce and throw in free delivery. Then later, in Burwood, Crash was eyeing a latptop computer and the clerk there said he'd take $100 off the price. We're not sure what the story is -- if prices are negotiable, or if we were just lucky.

In the end, we still don't have a bed (the air mattress doesn't count), but Crash does have a laptop. We also have a swanky new drying rack, 2 new bowls, a cheese grater and a pot. It's funny, we can't seem to find that one store that carries everything we need -- I suppose we've been spoiled by the US's big one-stop stores, even though niether of us tended to shop at those places too much.

I have another new word..."docket" -- seems like this is what they call receipts here. As in, "No exchanges or refunds without a docket."

Tomorrow we do some more furniture hunting and then it's off to juggling practice at Hyde Park with a local juggling group. Crash even bought extra juggling balls for me to use, since mine are filled with birdseed and therefore could not be brought into the country due to their strict quarantine laws.

When I have a bit more ability to think (jet lag, again), I'll figure out how to make this presentation of photos a little bit more designer-ly. I can't think clearly enough to worry about how the text wraps around photos and if my words are properly capitalized (or, as they write here, "capitalised") -- a bit embarrassing given that this is what I do for a living.

Off to bed now...
